Mayor Mufi Hannemann was among 85 American mayors to meet with President Barack Obama today in Washington and got a nod from Obama.

The event was set up by the White House to help the mayors decide how to spend their shares of the economic stimulus package.

Obama warned the nation's mayors he will "call them out" if they waste any money.

"The American people are watching," Obama said. "They need this plan to work. They expect to see the money that they've earned — they've worked so hard to earn — spent in its intended purposes without waste, without inefficiency, without fraud."

In video seen this morning on KGMB9, Obama acknowledges Hannemann before the meeting.

"My other hometown mayor, Mufi, great to see you all the way from Honolulu," the president says to a smiling Hannemann.
