Rainbow Wahine lose two matches, finish fourth in Irvine water polo tourney

The University of Hawai'i water polo team lost twice today to finish fourth in the UC Irvine Tournament at Irvine, Calif.

The third-ranked Rainbow Wahine (8-6) lost to No. 2 Stanford, 11-10, in the semifinals and 12-7 to No. 4 UCLA in the third-place match.

Lisa van Raalte scored three goals to lead UH against Stanford. Kelly Mason, Monika Eggens and Ryan Hanson-Swaner each scored two goals for the Rainbow Wahine against UCLA.

Stanford beat USC in overtime, 12-11, in the championship match.
