No. 2 Sooners rally past No. 5 Bears

NORMAN, Okla. — Courtney Paris had 18 points and 15 rebounds, and No. 2 Oklahoma shut out No. 5 Baylor for an extended stretch of the second half to take a commanding lead in the Big 12 with a 66-58 victory yesterday.

The Sooners (24-2, 12-0 Big 12) squandered a 15-point, first-half lead before finding themselves down by six in the second half. That's when Oklahoma held the Bears scoreless for 11 minutes while reeling off 13 straight points to surge back into the lead.

Nyeshia Stevenson hit the go-ahead 3-pointer with 7:20 to play. Paris added another six straight points for Oklahoma.

Danielle Wilson had her 15th double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds for Baylor (21-4, 9-3).

No. 4 Stanford 68, Oregon 49: Nnemkadi Ogwumike scored 13 points, Sarah Boothe added 11, and the host Cardinal (22-4, 13-1 Pac-10) took a 36-16 halftime lead in rolling past the Ducks (9-17, 5-10).

NO. 6 CALIFORNIA 62, OREGON STATE 40: Ashley Walker had 20 points and nine boards to become the host Golden Bears' (22-3, 13-1 Pac-10) top career rebounder (1,030) in a victory over the Beavers (15-10, 6-9).

No. 8 Louisville 70, Villanova 56: Angel McCoughtry had 34 points and nine rebounds, and Candyce Bingham added 12 points to lead the visiting Cardinals (25-3, 12-2 Big East) over the Wildcats (17-10, 9-4).

No. 14 Texas A&M 76, No. 12 Texas 65: Takia Starks scored 16 of her 18 points in the second half, helping the host Aggies (20-5, 8-4 Big 12) beat the Longhorns (19-7, 7-5) for the fifth straight time.

No. 16 Kansas State 72, Colorado 60: Ashley Sweat scored 22 points and Kelsey Nelson had 14 points and 13 rebounds, helping the host Wildcats (21-4, 8-4 Big 12) hold off the Buffaloes (11-13, 3-9).

No. 17 Xavier 70, Saint Louis 67: Tudy Reed had 16 points and 11 rebounds, and the visiting Musketeers (24-4, 12-0 Atlantic 10) rallied to beat the Bilikens (11-16, 5-7) for their 15th straight victory.

PACIFIC WEST

HAWAI'I-HILO 77, CHAMINADE 53: Hina Kimitete scored 21 points, Eileen Pineda added 14, and Sheila Azevedo had 12 points and 10 rebounds to power the host Vulcans (13-7, 5-5 PacWest) over the Silverswords (0-22, 0-11) in Hilo last night.

Amanda Adams and Jessica Hanato each scored 10 for UHH. Arielle Salvador scored 21 and Samantha Saito 18 to lead the Silverswords.
