EVEN BATTERIES ARE GOING GREEN

Disposable batteries have gone green with Fuji's environmentally friendly batteries, EnviroMAX (www.greenfuji.com). The standard sizes — AA, AAA, C and D — have the same power and longevity of other batteries. Two lines of the batteries will be available, digital alkaline for digital devices and a super alkaline for general use. They're best for digital cameras and flashlights. No mercury or other toxic elements means they're also landfill-safe.

BIODEGRADABLE RULES AT KCC

Styrofoam and nonbiodegradable plates, bowls and cups will no longer be used in the campus cafeteria at Kapi'olani Community College, according to the school's Culinary Department and two campus organizations, Slow Food KCC and the Sustainability Club. In their place, the cafeteria will now use products that can be turned into compost. The cafeteria joins two other campus eateries — 220 Grille and Kulia Grill — in using only biodegradable products.
