UH to open 'Fast Lane' to expedite walk-up sales

Advertiser Staff

In the wake of Friday's unexpected walk-up ticket sales in the University of Hawai'i-UC Irvine baseball series, UH will open additional selling stations at the Les Murakami Stadium ticket box office, the school announced yesterday in a press release.

The box office apparently wasn't prepared for an unanticipated 1,300 walk-up sales for Friday's season opener, resulting in long lines and spectators missing the early innings of the game. Friday's turnstile count was reported at 2,528 with more than half buying their tickets on game night.

To mitigate potential delays, on dates there are high walk-up sales, the ticket office will start a "Fast Lane" in which tickets for the upper level only may be purchased on a best-available basis instead of shopping for specific seats, a move that apparently leads to delays. Also, a second "Fast Lane" will be set up at a table outside the ticket office if demand dictates.

Fans can buy their tickets in advance at the Stan Sheriff Center box office, Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., or by calling 944-2697 or online at www.hawaiiathletics.com.
