Auditions set for Army Community Theatre's 'Children of Eden'

Advertiser Staff

Army Community Theatre is holding open auditions for "Children of Eden" on March 10-12 at 7 p.m. at Richardson Theatre, Ft. Shafter.

The musical by Stephen Schwartz of "Pippin" and "Wicked" fame will be presented May 7-23, also at Richardson Theatre.

It features direction by Brett Harwood, new assistant to long-time ACT producer-director Vanita Rae Smith; and musical direction by Megan Mount of the University of Hawaii Department of Music.

"Children of Eden" is based loosely on the first nine chapters of Genesis in the Old Testament and tells the story of Adam and Eve, followed by Noah and the flood.

It is a musical about parents, children and faith...not to mention centuries of unresolved family business.

For more information, go to www.armytheatre.com or call 438-4480.

The show is performed by an ensemble of storytellers comprised of a children's chorus ages eight to 12, and adult chorus, and 16 principal actors/singers who have parts in both stories.

Experience is not required to audition.

Auditioners are encouraged to bring a prepared piece and its sheet music, with ACT providing the accompanist.

Those auditioning without a prepared piece will be taught a song and asked to sing in a small group.
