Weather: Sunny days, clear nights to last a while

A high pressure area remains far north of the islands and will strengthen in the next few days, leading to gusty and stronger winds over the state, the National Weather Service said.

This high will linger through the rest of the week and into early next week, maintaining the moderate to strong winds, forecasters said.

Passing clouds and showers will affect the islands at times, especially over windward and mountain sections.

Here's a closer look at what to expect during the remainder of the work week:

Today: Sunny, breezy. Highs around 77. Northeast winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 40 mph.

Tonight: Mostly clear. Breezy. Lows around 65. Northeast winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 40 mph.

Thursday: Sunny, breezy. Highs 73 to 78. Northeast winds 15 to 25 mph.

Thursday night: Mostly clear. Breezy. Lows 62 to 67. Northeast winds 15 to 25 mph.

Friday: Sunny, breezy. Highs 72 to 79. Northeast winds 20 to 25 mph with gusts to 40 mph.
