KAIMUKI
Motocyclist killed in H-1 crash Sunday identified

A motorcyclist killed in a crash Sunday on the H-1 Freeway in Kaimuki has been identified by the city medical examiner's office as Willie Davis, 35, of Kapolei.

Davis was an Air Force technical sergeant who was a 15th Airlift Wing Command Post controller at Hickam Air Force Base, the Air Force said.

Witnesses told police investigators that Davis was traveling at 100 mph or more in the westbound lanes of the freeway about 4:20 p.m. when he appeared to lose control, veered to the right and hit a guardrail just before the 7th Avenue overpass.

Davis, who was wearing a helmet, was thrown from the 2008 Suzuki motorcycle and was then hit by a Honda Civic driven by a 54-year-old Honolulu woman.

He was taken to The Queen's Medical Center in critical condition and was pronounced dead at 5:06 p.m., police said.

A memorial service for family and friends will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Nelles Chapel on Hickam Air Force Base.
