South Carolina prep basketball player pulls man from burning truck

Associated Press

ANDERSON, S.C. — A 17-year-old Crescent High basketball player who had Hodgkin's disease pulled an injured man from a burning truck Wednesday.

Chase Duffell came upon the scene and saw a truck on fire after a three-vehicle wreck that involved a school bus. He rushed to the vehicle and was preparing to break the window when the driver, William Harrison, regained conciousness and unlocked the door. Duffell said he and two other men helped get Harrison away from the truck.

Local officials say Harrison was taken to the hospital with injuries not considered life threatening.

Duffell was diagnosed with cancer in 2007 and underwent three rounds of chemotherapy before he was declared free of the disease.
