Running: Straub/Kapi'olani Women's 10K event Sunday

STREETS CLOSURES

From 4:30 a.m. to 9 a.m., the following will be closed:

· Kalakaua Ave. – mauka lanes adjacent to Kapi‘olani Park. (Kahala-bound traffic will be allowed to use the makai lanes.)

· Diamond Head Rd. – makai side from Paki Ave. to 22nd Ave. (Town-bound traffic will be allowed on the mauka side.)

· Paikau St. – both sides

· 22nd Ave. – Koko Head side from Diamond Head Rd. to Kilauea Ave.

· Kilauea Ave. – makai curb lane from 22nd Ave. to Elepaio St.

· Elepaio St. – Ewa side curb lane from Kilauea Ave. to Kahala Ave.

· Kahala Ave. – both sides, from Elepaio St. to Diamond Head Rd. (Town-bound traffic will be diverted right at Elepaio St., except City buses.)

More than 2,000 participants will take part in the 32nd annual Straub/Kapi'olani Women's 10K Race, which will be held Sunday starting at 7 a.m.

The event, which begins at Kapi'olani Park and goes around Diamond Heat and Kahala before returning to the park, is open to all types of runners, from elite, serious runners, race walkers, beginners and recreational walkers.

Awards will be presented to the top three in the following divisions: Elite, Stroller, School Challenge, Corporate Challenge, Hawaii Pacific Health Employees, and by Age Groups in 5-year increments starting from age 14 and under to 80 and over. The awards ceremony will begin at 8:15 a.m. at Kapi'olani Bandstand.

Late entry registrations will be accepted at Kapi'olani Park on race day morning from 6 -6:45a.m. Late registration entry fee is $40. For more information, call 524-6755 or go to www.straubhealth.org or www.kapiolani.org
