Micah Iaukea, owner of CLOTH, the upscale vintage boutique at 909 Kapi'olani Blvd., is planning monthly "Friday Finales" with a different theme each month. From 5 to 7 p.m. today, it's "Baubles, Brooches & Bellinis." The focus is on "all the treasures that sparkle and fizz," Iaukea said, especially jewelry from the '40s and '50s.

PROM EVENT AT NEIMAN MARCUS

Not sure what you'll wear to prom? Don't panic. Neiman Marcus presents The Prom Event, with informal modeling from noon to 2 p.m. today and tomorrow.

As for the trends this year? The one-shoulder dress is hot and the palest shade of pink, a soft blush, is cool. And of course a statement piece of jewelry can finish off your look to perfection.

While you're there, today only, check out the spring collection from Piazza Sempione of Milan. They're known for their flawless fit and their capris, inspired by Audrey Hepburn.

ON OUR RADAR

STEEL ADLER INTRODUCES HOME LINE

Many readers will remember Steel Adler from his days as head of visual merchandising at Neiman Marcus. He opened the store and hired the talented team now headed by Doug Jago.

Adler was promoted to Neiman Marcus in Dallas, worked there for a few years, then retired. Now he has launched his own line of home furnishings, Three Dogs Dancing, named after his three Scottish terriers, Grizzie, Effie and Nessie.

Inspired by Japanese culture and the colors of the Islands, as well as the book "Memoirs of a Geisha," Adler creates the line from vintage obi (mainly from the '30s and '40s) and unused bolts of silk and wool intended for kimono or haori. "The pattern mix is very much a part of my aesthetic and I think reflects the Japanese aesthetic," he said.

Each throw involves more than 20 steps to construct, from layering cotton flannel to provide the optimal weight, to hand stitching the border with silk thread.

The line is carried on O'ahu exclusively at Fine Linens & Furnishings at Gentry Pacific Center (www.finelinensandfurnishings.com). Prices range from $300 to $1,200.

By the way, the dogs really do dance. When Adler is giving them their morning treat, they all get up on their hind paws with their front paws waving in the air. Who could resist naming a business after that act?
