MAKUA
Army seeks public input on valley's cultural sites

The U.S. Army wants to hear from the community, which has until March 27 to express views on the priority of cultural site access at the Makua Military Reservation.

A meeting will be from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. March 9 at the Nanaikapono Elementary School cafeteria to discuss the Army's list that includes 116 known archaeological sites.

The list is available at the Wai'anae, Kapolei and Hawai'i State public libraries.

The Army will review the information contained in the list of sites and the public comments received to prepare a draft list of high- priority sites and the rationale for the selection of each site. The final list will be published in June.
