WAIPAHU
Truck's driver sought after fleeing fatal crash

Police yesterday were seeking the driver of a blue pickup truck believed to have been involved in a fatal accident Monday in Waipahu.

The accident resulted in the death of motorcyclist Lindsay Kane, 47.

On Monday afternoon, Kane and the truck were traveling east on Farrington Highway near Aniani Street. The truck was in the left lane and the motorcycle was in the right lane when the truck abruptly turned right to a Chevron gas station, cutting off the motorcycle, police said.

The motorcyclist lost control and crashed. The truck sped away. Kane was taken to The Queen's Medical Center in critical condition and died Monday night.

Police opened a negligent homicide investigation and on Tuesday night recovered the truck, but not the driver, on Leonui Street in Waipahu.

Anyone with information about the accident is asked to call police or Honolulu CrimeStoppers at 955-8300.
