Bow Yee Tong donates to schools, programs

Bow Yee Tong, a Chinese association, has distributed more than $9,000 to the "wish lists" of eight Kane'ohe organizations.

Receiving grants are Benjamin Parker Elementary School, $1,796 for playground equipment; Kane'ohe Elementary School, $1,981 for reading CDs and material; Kahalu'u Elementary School, $1,500 for student incentive awards; Pu'ohala Elementary School, $1,248 for library books on Chinese culture, student achievement awards and Junior Police Officer shirts; Hakipu'u Learning Center, $1,000 for Christmas dinners for the Windward homeless; Kapunahala Elementary School, $500 for Scholastic Books for needy children; Castle High Band-Aid Association, $500 for program support and needs; and Special Olympics, $500 for trophies and award ribbons.

Bow Yee Tong was established in 1903 and has 90 active members, all of whom are Kane'ohe residents.
