It's Hana Hou time again tomorrow for Kahauanu Lake, a composer and 'ukulele virtuoso prominent in the 1960s-1980s.

Lake and his wife, hula master Maiki Aiu Lake, helped lead the way for the next generation of hula practitioners and musicians, and the afternoon concert at the Mamiya Theatre will demonstrate why.

Lake, who turned 77 yesterday, will also have a talk-story session to tell the tales behind the creative process.

Al Machida, the guitar player of the Kahauanu Lake Trio, will join Kahauanu on stage (bass player and brother Tommy Lake died in 2006), along with original dancers of Maiki Aiu Lake.

Tickets are $25 and are available by calling Halau Hula Ka No'eau at 599-6525 or at the Mamiya Theatre door at the Saint Louis School campus. Doors open at 3:30 p.m. and the concert starts at 4.
