Weather: Sunny this morning, showers later

A high pressure area far northeast of the state will keep locally breezy trades blowing across the islands through tonight, the National Weather Service said.

The winds will gradually subside as the high moves northeast and weakens, forecasters said.

By Thursday, the winds may get quite light, with local land and sea breezes developing. A cold front will reach the islands during the weekend bringing widespread showers.

Here's a closer look at what to expect during the next few days:

Today: Isolated showers after noon. Partly cloudy, with a high near 78. East wind around 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 71. East wind around 10 mph.

Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 79. East wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Tuesday Night: Isolated showers after midnight. Partly cloudy, with a low around 70. East wind around 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Wednesday: Isolated showers before noon. Partly cloudy, with a high near 80. East wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Wednesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 69. East wind around 11 mph.
