High surf advisory posted for east-facing shores

Advertiser Staff

A high surf advisory will remain in effect for east-facing shores on Oahu through tonight, the National Weather Service said.

Surf along the eastern shoreline was expected to be in the range of 6 to 10 feet today, decreasing to 5 to 8 feet by tomorrow, forecasters said.

Elsewhere on Oahu today, look for surf of 7 to 11 feet along north-facing shores, 4 to 7 feet along west-facing shores and 1 to 3 feet along south-facing shores.

Outlook through Saturday, Jan. 10: The trade wind surf on the east-facing shores will likely remain near the advisory level of 8 feet into the early part of the work week.

A west-northwest swell arriving Tuesday may produce surf approaching the advisory level of 15 feet on the north-facing shores late Tuesday and Wednesday.
