Minor earthquake rattles the Big Island

A relatively low-power earthquake rumble across portions of the Big Island this morning, according to the United States Geological Survey.

The temblor, which occurred at 5:53 a.m. at a depth of 6.3 miles, was assigned a preliminary magnitude of 2.8.

There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries stemming from the quake.

It was centered about 4 miles north of Naalehu or about 9 miles southwest of Pahala.
