DBEDT, Census bureau set workshop on using survey data

Advertiser Staff

State and federal officials will hold a free workshop Jan. 27 called "Navigating the Census Bureau's 2007 American Community Survey Data."

The event, co-sponsored by the state Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism and the Census Bureau's Los Angeles Regional Office, will be held at the Keoni Ana Building, 1177 Alakea St. There will be two sessions, one starting at 8:30 a.m. and the other starting at 12:30 p.m.

Morgan Walls-Dines, Census Bureau information specialist from the L.A. regional office of the Census Bureau, will conduct the workshop. The ongoing, American Community Survey replaces the census long-form used in previous 10-year censuses to obtain detailed household information. It was developed in response to the need for economic, social, demographic and housing data on a more frequent basis.

To register, call Naomi Akamine at 586-2486 or e-mail her at: census@dbedt.hawaii.gov.
