REUSE & RECYCLE

PLANTS LOVE OLD AQUARIUM WATER

A tip from "Green Hawai'i" by Kevin Whitton: Yes, it seems as if aquarium owners are always cleaning the tank. But if you're dumping the water from your tank, what a waste of nitrogen- and phosphorus-rich nutrients! Instead, use the fishy water on house plants or in your garden instead of sending it down the sink. That fish waste is great for the greenery.

FINAL WORD

"It's like a graffiti artist seeing a blank wall or a surfer seeing a good wave. When I see an open area of land, I envision a garden."

Scott Bunnell , author of "On Guerrilla Gardening"
