Week of Prayer for Christian Unity set for Jan. 21

Advertiser Staff

An ecumenical worship service to mark the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity will be 7 p.m. Jan. 21 at the Lutheran Church of Honolulu, 1730 Punahou St., and Bishop Robert Fitzpatrick of the Episcopal Diocese of Hawaii will preach.

The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity was created to heal the divisions and to promote dialogues among churches. The theme for the 2009 week — "That they may become one in your hand" (Ezekiel 37:15-19) — was selected by a local ecumenical group from South Korea. The first Hawai'i service was held in 2008 at Our Lady of Peace Cathedral.
