Hawaii Martin Luther King parade set for Jan. 19

The 21st annual Martin Luther King Jr. Coalition Parade will depart from Ala Moana Park at 9 a.m. Jan. 19 and continue through Waikiki to the Kapiolani Park Bandstand.

A unity rally will be held at the park after the parade, beginning at about 11 a.m.

In 2008, more than 50 units and about 1,000 participants marched or rode in the parade. Another 3,000 people attended the post-parade celebration.

The celebration will include food vendors, African wear vendors, picture oils and incense, and the sale of health items and T-shirts.
