Honolulu's Parker McLachlin rallied with two birdies on his last three holes to finish at 4-over-par 77 in the first round today of the Mercedes-Benz Championship at Kapalua, Maui.

Geoff Ogilvy shot a 67 at the par-73 Kapalua Plantation Course for a one-stroke lead over Johnson Wagner, Ernie Els and Kenny Perry.

McLachlin, who won his first PGA event last season, is one of 33 golfers in the field of 2008 tournament champions.

McLachlin had bogeys at the par-4 No. 3 and par-5 No. 5 and a double bogey at the par-3 No. 8 to make the run at 4-over 40. He double-bogeyed the par-4 No. 14 before his birdies on the par-4 No. 16 and par-5 No. 18.
