The upscale denim brand 7 for All Mankind has opened its first Hawai'i store in the Royal Hawaiian Center. The 2,997-square-foot space is the 15th retail store for the company.

The dramatic interior is inspired by volcanoes and uses Ipei wood and lava stone with a red halo of light inspired by molten lava. A staircase curtained by chain links winds its way between the two floors.

It's open daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

VALENTINE'S MAKEOVER

Is there someone in your life who deserves a little pampering this Valentine's Day? Free of charge?

Maybe a wife who's been incredibly supportive, a boyfriend who has gone above and beyond the call, a mother who never seems to do anything for herself, a BFF who helped you through a rough spot and could use some kindness of her own?

Write us with your nomination for a gentle Valentine's makeover. This is not an extreme makeover complete with knives, needles or closet clean-outs.

The Advertiser is partnering with local salons and day spas to offer a day of relaxation, renewal and, oh yeah, a little indulgence to three deserving Islanders. We'll get you ready for a big night out with hair, makeup and spa services. The date night is up to you.

To nominate someone you love for an Advertiser Valentine's makeover, e-mail your reasons why he or she deserves a day of pampering to paularath@aol.com.

Your nominee must be available to spend most of the day with us — and the evening with a loved one — on Valentine's Day, a Saturday. Deadline for nominations is Jan. 23.

ON OUR RADAR

Island Ties, those cute and practical luggage straps created by former Honolulu TV anchorwoman Barbara Wallace, have seen a growth spurt.

Through a special licensing arrangement, Wallace is now able to offer the straps with motifs from favorite sports teams including the University of Hawai'i Warriors and NFL, MLB and NCAA teams.

Prices for the UH and other sports-themed Island Ties are $14.99. They're sold in some Longs stores on O'ahu as well as Borders, Kmart, Wal-Mart and Don Quijote. If you have any trouble finding them in local stores, e-mail customerservice@islandergroup.com.

Curious about the best-sellers? UH is way ahead of the pack, of course, followed by the Pittsburgh Steelers, Oakland Raiders and San Francisco 49ers.
