NFL: Bench warrant possible for Lions' Jordon Dizon

Associated Press

BOULDER, Colo. — A judge plans to issue a bench warrant once prosecutors file paperwork against Detroit Lions linebacker Jordon Dizon for allegedly failing to show proof he completed community service for a drunken driving conviction.

Dizon is a Waimea (Kaua'i) High alum.

Boulder County prosecutors said Friday they will file a contempt of court motion against Dizon because they never got a notice that he completed 24 hours of community service. The 22-year-old pleaded guilty in September for an April arrest in which police say his blood-alcohol level was 0.097, above the legal limit of 0.08.

Dizon's attorney, Peter Schaffer, says the documents were faxed and the court should have them.

The Lions drafted the former University of Colorado player six days after the arrest.

Prosecutors say they will file their motion after the weekend.
