WAILUKU, Maui — A 20-year-old Kihei man involved in a Dec. 28 truck crash on Mokulele Highway died Wednesday at Maui Memorial Medical Center, according to police.

Jonathan Ferrer was driving a 1993 Ford F-150 truck south on the highway at about 3 a.m. when his vehicle hit a concrete island and a post at the North Kihei Road intersection, police said.

His death brought the 2008 traffic fatality count for Maui County to 24, compared with 21 for 2007.
