HILO
Construction of new UH building begins this week

Construction will start this week on a science and technology building at the University of Hawai'i at Hilo. The new building is expected to be completed by August 2010, and will be located on the current site of the Beaumont Building on Lanikaula Street.

To accommodate the project, the Life Sciences Building parking lot has been closed, with additional red-zone parking opened by the Old Gym and blue-zone parking opened just above the bridge on Lanikaula Street.

UH-Hilo officials said that once the construction zone is secured, hazardous materials will be removed from the Beaumont Building, which will then be demolished to make way for construction.
