Prevention magazine is introducing a new 20-page food section to satisfy readers' requests for more information on how to cook healthfully and deliciously. The new section "Cook!" debuts in the February issue and will include a main feature focused on a food or cooking personality or an entertaining or seasonal theme.

Another feature has an Island connection, former Maui chef Kathleen Daelemans, author of "Getting Thin and Loving Food," who will offer two recipes that embody Cook!'s tagline, "Easy, Healthy, Delicious," with tips and a menu box for super-simple or no-cook recipes. Other features include one on a healthy cooking technique with step-by-step photo instruction, a makeover for an unhealthful dish and "Instant Dish," about four or five convenient products that make a virtually instant meal.

THE LEMON DESSERT DISASTER

TRY PUTTIN' ON THIS RITZ

A lemon dessert made with a Ritz cracker crust created quite a stir last week. Lots of readers liked the sound of it because it lends itself to potlucks and larger family gatherings. But there was a little misunderstanding (OK, a big misunderstanding) about a key ingredient in the recipe. Luckily, we were able to contact the source for the recipe, test it for ourselves and can report that when you know the right ingredients, it's every bit as 'ono as we suspected. See link above for the recipe and a mea culpa.
