The Taddster is back.

Tadd Fujikawa shot a 1-under-par 69 today to make his second cut — his first as a professional in a PGA Tour event — at the Sony Open in Hawaii today at Waialae Country Club.

HIs two-round total is 71-69 for an even-par 140 after two rounds. The cut to make weekend play was 1-over 141.

"I'm happy that it was my first cut was here in Hawaii, and at home," Fujikawa said. "I still have two more days to play, though. I need to stay focused and finish out the week."

Two years ago, Fujikawa made the cut and finished tied for 20th in the Sony Open. But he was an amateur then and could not collect the more than $54,000 he would have collected had he been a pro. Months later in July, Fujikawa turned pro.

He missed the cut in last year's tournament.

Fujikawa had to go through two days of qualifying to make this year's Sony field.

"I think Monday qualifying was a big confidence booster, and being able to play in Hawaii is just phenominal. Making the cut is even better."

Starting on the back nine, Fujikawa opened with a birdie on the par-4 No. 10. Then he ran off 13 consecutive pars, just missing a birdie chance on the par-3 17th, when his ball lipped the hole. His birdie run ended when he bogeyed the par-4 No. 6.

Fujikawa provided late drama that even the Golf Channel couldn't resist.

After the bogey on his 15th hole of the day, the cable network ended its scheduled coverage, but cut into its next program with updates.

Fujikawa parred the next two holes before birdieing the par-5 No. 9 to finish his round.

Fujikawa was the only one among five Hawai'i golfers to make the cut.

A bogey on his final hole today cost Kane'ohe native Dean Wilson a chance at playing the weekend.

Wilson shot a 1-under-par 69 for a two-round 2-over 142. The cut was at 1 over.

On the par-5 18th hole, Wilson hit his drive into a fairway bunker. He later two-putted for his bogey.

The news also wasn't good for Lorens Chan and Parker McLachlin.

Chan, an Iolani freshman, shot a 75 and missed the cut at 7-over 147. McLachlin shot a 77 and finished at 150.

Wilson got off to a good start with three birdies on the front nine to make the turn at 3 under. A bogey at the par-4 No. 13 put him at 2 under before his bogey on No. 18.

Wilson, who is in his seventh year on the PGA Tour , is a Castle High alum. He has missed the past three Sony Open cuts.

He is one five Hawai'i golfers in the tournament.

Pro John Lynch shot a 72 today and finished at 150
