HILO
Rules on minimum size of fish to be discussed

The Department of Land and Natural Resources will hold a meeting Jan. 27 in Hilo to discuss the possibility of establishing minimum size rules to protect uhu (parrotfish), weke (goatfish), and ulua/papio (jacks).

The meeting will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the county's Aupuni conference room at 101 Pauahi St.

DLNR staff will conduct a similar meeting at 6 to 8:30 p.m. Jan. 30 in Room 114 of the Electronics Technology Building at Kaua'i Community College.

Similar meetings were held earlier this month at the Honokohau Big Game Fishing Club and at Maui Waena Elementary School in Kahului.
