City looking to hire paramedic recruits

The City and Country of Honolulu Emergency Services Department's Emergency Medical Services Division will be accepting applications for the position of emergency medical technician I recruit.

Applications will be accepted online only from Sunday through Jan. 31. Job information can be found at the Department of Human Resources Web site www.honolulu.gov/hr.

The job pays $3,104 a month. Applicants must have a nationally recognized CPR certification, high school diploma or equivalent and a valid driver's license.

Applicants must take a written test March 21. They will be notified by mail approximately seven days before the test. Those who pass the written test will be interviewed in person. Those who pass the oral interview process will be scheduled for a physical examination and suitability-for-hire evaluation.

Those who are accepted as recruits will undergo six months of paid training before being assigned to an Emergency Medical Services ambulance unit.
