Ukulele festival set for Feb. 14 at Kakaako Waterfront Park

The first Japan-Hawai'i Ukulele Picnic is planned from 11 a.m. to sunset on Feb. 14 at the Kaka'ako Waterfront Park.

The Valentine's Day event offers an afternoon in an oceanfront setting with free music featuring entertainers from Hawai'i and Japan.

Beach chairs and blankets are permitted, but no coolers or outside food and beverages allowed. Food and refreshments available for purchase at the event. There will also be a chance to win three pineapple 'ukulele, gift certificates from Minato's Restaurant; 100 Koi fish from Japan and other giveaways.

The event is a benefit for Ukulele Foundation of Hawai'i and Konishiki Kids Foundation

There is free parking at Kaka'ako Park and surrounding area and a free roundtrip shuttle from Waikiki Duty Free to Kaka'ako Waterfront Park.
