A high surf advisory remains in effect through 6 p.m. today for the west-facing shores of the Big Island and north- and west-facing shores of Niihau, Kauai, Oahu, Molokai and Maui.

The National Weather Service said surf of 12 to 15 feet is expected today along the north-facing shores of Niihau, Kauai, Oahu, Molokai and Maui. Surf along the west-facing shores of those islands will likely reach 4 to 8 feet today, the Weather Service said.

Surf along the west-facing shores of the Big Island is expected to be 4 to 8 feet.

Meanwhile, surf along the east-facing shores of Oahu will be 3 to 5 feet today while surf along Oahu's south-facing shores will be 1 to 3 feet.

Outlook through Tuesday, Jan. 27: Surf will drop back below the advisory threshold by tonight. Another west-northwest swell arriving late Friday will again boost surf heights near advisory levels.
