President Obama's Honolulu sister said she and her family are considering moving temporarily to Washington, D.C., but haven't yet made a decision.

Maya Soetoro-Ng was in the nation's capital for Tuesday's inauguration of her brother. She plans to return to Hawai'i by the end of this week.

The Associated Press reported Tuesday that Soetoro-Ng plans to move to Washington for at least a year.

The story cited an unnamed Obama campaign source who said Soetoro-Ng, her husband, Konrad, and daughter Suhaila will move in May, once Soetoro-Ng finishes teaching her history classes at La Pietra-Hawaii School for Girls.

But Soetoro-Ng told The Advertiser yesterday that no decision has been made on the move.

"I cannot confirm that wire story because we're not sure. We are certainly coming back to Hawai'i in a couple of days," she said.

"We plan to make Hawai'i our home. We are debating temporary possibilities, but I can't confirm it. These are just a family discussions."

Soetoro-Ng and her family are Obama's only relatives in Hawai'i.

Obama's grandmother Madelyn Dunham, who lived in Makiki and was also Soetoro-Ng's grandmother, died two nights before the Nov. 4 election.
