Three more Walgreens to open on Maui

Advertiser Staff

The next three Hawai'i Walgreens pharmacies are slated to open Monday on Maui, as the drug store chain continues to ramp up its statewide expansion.

The three pharmacies, two in Wailuku and one in Lahaina, are among six Walgreens stores to open in the last three months.

Four of the stores, including the three opening Monday, are pharmacy-only locations, which are smaller than typical stores and aren't open 24 hours like larger stores. The pharmacies offer prescription service with limited over-the-counter health items and don't have drive-through windows.

The three newest stores are former sites of Valley Isle Pharmacy, a local business purchased by Walgreens. The conversion of the Valley Isle Pharmacy stores follows the opening last month of the first Walgreens pharmacy-only store converted from another business acquired by Walgreens, Lahaina Pharmacy.
