WAIPAHU
Disaster recovery office shuts down tomorrow

The federal Disaster Recovery Center at the Filipino Community Center will close for good at 5 p.m. tomorrow. Three centers will remain open on O'ahu to help residents affected by the severe flooding of Dec. 10-16.

The following centers will remain open Monday through Friday from noon to 8 p.m., and Saturdays 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., until further notice: Hale'iwa, Waialua Community Association, 66-434 Kamehameha Highway; La'ie, Laie Shopping Center, 55-510 Kamehameha Highway; Wai'anae, Waianae Coast Comprehensive Health Center, 86-260 Farrington Highway.

Residents may visit a center for information or call the Federal Emergency Management Agency Helpline (1-800-621-3362) for the status of their case.

Those planning to visit a disaster relief center are encouraged to apply with FEMA first so their information will be in the system. Mitigation advisers will be on site as well to assist applicants with their questions on loan applications and prevention of future damage.

The centers are intended to help residents affected by the mid-December floods. The following centers will remain open Monday through Friday from noon to 8 p.m., and Saturdays 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., until further notice: Hale'iwa, Waialua Community Association, 66-434 Kamehameha Highway; La'ie, Laie Shopping Center, 55-510 Kamehameha Highway; Wai'anae, Waianae Coast Comprehensive Health Center, 86-260 Farrington Highway.
