Mililani beats Kahuku to win OIA girls soccer title

The Mililani Trojans won their 11th O'ahu Interscholastic Association soccer title, beating Kahuku, 3-0, in the Division I title game before 400 fans tonight at Roosevelt's Ticky Vasconcellos Stadium.

"It feels good to win it as a senior, because I felt like I contributed more to the team," said senior forward Chelsey Goo, who scored in the game, and was one of two freshmen, along with Jackie Suan, who were on the varsity in 2006.

Mililani, Kahuku, Pearl City, Kapolei, Kaiser and Roosevelt all qualified for the HHSAA girls soccer Division I state tournament, which runs from Feb. 4 to 7 at the Waipi'o Peninsula Soccer Complex.

Kahuku was believed to be playing in its first OIA title game, while Mililani won 10 previously, with its last in 2006 before the divisions split into Red and White.

Kahuku's speed, which helped it post upsets over 'Aiea, Moanalua and Pearl City, was nullified against the equally speedy Trojans.
