It's been said that misery loves company. However, if you're a mom fighting to lose weight and get fit after giving birth, having some company on the journey actually can help ward off some of the misery.

This is where the Advertiser Web site Hawaii MomsLikeMe.com comes in handy. Countless moms have used the site to find exercise partners and programs, get information on health and fitness and, most importantly, give each other moral support.

Other ways the women are using the site to reach their fitness goals:

  • Several dozen moms from Hawaii MomsLikeMe .com are banding together to do the Great Aloha Run as a group on Feb. 16. Moms from the site have teamed up also for charity walks and other exercise outings.

  • Each day a mom starts an "exercise roll-call" on the site, and moms respond by posting their day's fitness activities — to keep themselves accountable — and praise others on their progress.

  • Anyone can join the fitness-related member groups on Hawaii Moms LikeMe.com, such as We're Watching R Weight (weight loss), and AthletesHI Mamas (marathoners).
