Weather: Isolated and scattered showers likely today

A cold front to the northwest of the islands will move across Kaua'i this afternoon, and across O'ahu by later this evening, the National Weather Service said.

The front is expected to stall across Maui county on Tuesday, then weaken on Tuesday night. The remnants of the front will linger around Maui and the Big Island through Wednesday.

Trade winds will return to the islands on Thursday and continue through the end of the week.

Today: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a high near 78. South wind between 6 and 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

Tonight: Scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 62. West wind between 8 and 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Tuesday: Scattered showers, mainly before noon. Partly cloudy, with a high near 75. North wind between 8 and 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.

Tuesday night: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a low around 59. North wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

Wednesday: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a high near 78. North wind around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

Wednesday night: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a low around 64. North wind around 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.
