Hawaii's clean-car bill applauded

Advertiser Staff

Blue Planet Foundation Executive Director Jeff Mikulina yesterday praised a new Hawaii bill that would hasten adoption of "clean cars" in the state and dramatically increase fuel efficiency of cars and trucks sold in Hawaii.

"Adopting a Clean Cars law would enable Hawaii residents to go further with their gasoline budgets," Mikulina said in a press release. "It's time for Hawaii to join the other states in passing smart reforms to reduce pain at the pump and greenhouse gas emissions."

The Clean Cars Act, introduced by Sen. Mike Gabbard, chair of the Energy and Environment Committee, would require vehicles sold in Hawaii to dramatically increase the miles that they travel on a gallon of gas.
