Lingle releases money for State Hosptial repairs

Gov. Linda Lingle has released $863,800 for two projects to repair Hawaii State Hospital's ventilation and air-conditioning equipment and hot-water system, the state said today in a news release.

The projects are part of the $1.87 billion, public infrastructure construction plan unveiled by Lingle in December to stimulate the economy and create jobs. Progress of all 1,521 projects belonging to the plan can be tracked at www.hawaii.gov/cip .

  • $561,400 will be used to upgrade and/or replace ventilation and air-conditioning equipment. Lingle previously released $42,600 for the project's design. Construction is scheduled to begin in January 2009 and be completed in July 2009.

  • $302,400 will cover improvements to the hospital's hot-water system. Lingle previously released $37,540 for the project's design. Construction is scheduled to begin this month and be completed in July 2009.

    Hawaii State Hospital, located in Kaneohe, provides mental healthcare services to more than 350 patients annually under the supervision of the state Department of Health's Adult Mental Health Division.
