Petras Balocka scored on a tip-in as the final horn sounded, giving the

University of Hawaii men's basketball team a 54-53 road victory over

Louisiana Tech today at Ruston, La.

On the previous possession, Louisiana Tech's Jamel Guyton hit a 3-pointer to

give the Bulldogs a momentary 53-52 lead.

Bill Amis missed a turnaround jump shot on Hawaii's final possession, but

Balocka managed to put the miss back in the basket. After a review of the

video by the referees, the basket was allowed.

Hawaii improved to 10-10 overall, and ended a five-game losing streak. The

Rainbow Warriors are 2-6 in the Western Athletic Conference, with both wins

over LaTech.

The Bulldogs dropped to 8-13 and 2-6.

Roderick Flemings led the 'Bows with 17 points. Amis added 14 points and six

rebounds, and Balocka contributed 10 points and five rebounds.

The victory also snapped a 10-game losing streak in away games for Hawaii,

a streak dating to last season.

The 'Bows trailed by as many as 12 points in the first half.

Hawaii will stay on the road for another WAC game on Saturday at New Mexico

State.
