Bus fares go up today, but shuttle fees won't change

Advertiser Staff

Starting today, it will cost more to ride the bus on Kaua'i.

The increases are the first fare hikes in eight years. The fares: $2 per mainline trip for adults; $1 for seniors and ages 7 to 18. A monthly pass will increase from $15 to $20.

Shuttle fares remain unchanged at 50 cents per trip for adults and 25 cents for seniors and youths.

Also starting today, discounted bus passes and monthly passes will be available at The Kaua'i Bus office on Ho'olako Street, across from police headquarters.

A six-month bus pass costs $90, and an annual bus pass $180.

Monthly bus passes can also be purchased at the Lihu'e Civic Center at the Motor Vehicle Registration window.

Passes are for sale at both locations, Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
