HILO — A 64-year-old man died yesterday after being from waters off the Kapoho Vacationland subdivision in Puna.

Hawaii County police identified the man as Hamilton Manley of Kurtistown.
Police say Puna patrol officers responded to a 9:43 a.m. report of a swimmer in distress off Waiopae Road. They arrived to find that bystanders had pulled the man from the water.
He was taken to Hilo Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 11 a.m.
An autopsy has been ordered.
