A woman was critically injured yesterday afternoon when she lost control of her sport utility vehicle and crashed inside the H-3 Freeway tunnel.

The incident occurred at 4:50 p.m. in the Kane'ohe-bound lanes of the freeway in the Harano Tunnel. The woman, who appeared to be in her late 20s, was taken to the hospital in critical condition, said Bryan Cheplic, spokesman for the city Emergency Services Department.

Police closed the east-bound lanes inside the Harano Tunnel because of the crash, but reopened them about 8:30 p.m.
