Longtime Kauaçi drag racer Rudy Ramos, 62, died last night following an accident at Kauaçi Raceway Park in Kapaça.

According to the Garden Isle Racing Association, on-site emergency staff responded to the accident.
Another driver at the track told The Garden Island newspaper that Ramos was taken to Kauaçi Veterans Memorial Hospital and later transported to Honolulu.
The Honolulu medical examiner's office confirmed that Ramos had died. No information on Ramos' cause of death is available yet, the medical examiner's office said today.
GIRA released a statement, which read: "This tragic event is an enormous loss for the entire racing community. Rudy has been part of our racing community for over 30 years; he was a passionate racer and a great sportman."
