Man napping in car in Makakilo arrested for alleged ID theft

Advertiser Staff

A man found sleeping in a car Sunday in Makakilo was arrested on suspicion of identity theft.

Police were called to a Makakilo home about 3:40 p.m. Sunday after receiving a call about a suspicious vehicle parked close to the home’s driveway.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found a man sleeping in the passenger seat and asked him to show identification.
In the process of responding, the man produced two pieces of identification belonging to a 34-year-old man, police said.
A computer check revealed the identification cards the man showed had been reported stolen during a burglary and he was then arrested on suspicion of unauthorized control of personal confidential information as well as fourth-degree theft.
