Fire burns 100 acres of Kalaheo pasture land

KALAHEO – Fire officials estimate that approximately 100 acres of Kalaheo pasture land were destroyed by fire this afternoon.

The fire was deemed under control at around 2:39 pm.

Engine 5, Brush Truck 4 and Truck 4 are still at the scene putting out hotspots.

No one was injured in the fire, which burned along Pu‘u Rd in the vicinity of the Kukuiolono Golf Course.

In addition to the companies that remain on scene, Brush Truck 2, Rescue 3, Engine 4, Engine 6, spare Engine 7, and Air-1 also responded to the 11:35 alarm.

It was the first real fire that five of the 10 new recruits responded to.

Assistance was also provided by Goodfellow Brothers Inc., who brought three water tankers, and Kaua'i Coffee Company, who brought a water tanker and a loader.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
