Change of plan, mango lovers: Instead of requiring pre-entry and a semifinals process, the planners of the Mangoes @ The Moana Recipe Contest have decided to open entry to all comers who have a special mango bread or cake, or mango preserve or sauce to share. The recipe competition is part of a four-hour celebration, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, of local mangoes and mango growers, including cooking demonstrations, tastings and mango education, as well as the recipe contest.

Here's what entrants need to know: Be at the Moana Surfrider by 8:30 a.m. Saturday with two dishes of your prepared entry and a printed copy of the recipe with your contact information on it. Valet parking is validated for entrants. Recipes will be judged by celebrities and chefs, and you must be present to win amenities from the Moana Surfrider and The Advertiser. For detailed rules, go to www.honoluluadvertiser.com or call food editor Wanda Adams at 535-2412.
