The 34th Annual Mrs. Hawaii State Pageant will be held Saturday at the Magic of Polynesia Showroom at 3 p.m. (located in the Ohana Waikiki Beachcomber Hotel across Cheesecake Factory in Waikiki).

Presented by LA Productions, 11 married women will be vying for the state crown of the 2009 Mrs. Hawaii Pageant and the opportunity to represent Hawaii in the national Mrs. America pageant. The national pageant takes place on Sept. 8 in Tucson, Ariz. The winner of the Mrs. America pageant will then proceed to represent the United States in the International Mrs. World contest.
David Marmel, president of the Mrs. America and Mrs. World pageants, wanted to stage a pageant that celebrated America's more than 60 million married women.
Current 2008 Mrs. Hawaii Kristina Lum will crown her successor and will also be celebrating her birthday. This year's Mrs. Hawaii state pageant will feature guest performances by international recording artist Yvonne Elliman, and Hawaii’s own actor and singer/songwriter KK Kaminaka.
General admission tickets are $35 and are available by calling Luana Alapa at 782-1119, or e-mailing laproductionshawaii@gmail.com.
